When we moved in I was terrified that we had white carpet.
At that stage, we only had two kids, but they were our boys, who are very active (and dirt magnets).
We decided we could train our kids, just like you can train puppies, to not eat or drink in living room or wear shoes. It's mostly worked. More than anything, the regular professional carpet cleanings have kept the carpet looking fresh.
Also, I am a fan of tall ceilings. They are elegant & make the room seem much bigger than it is.
Joseph did the crown molding. He did a great job & I'm glad he did it not me. I don't like sawing or having to be precise, or anything that involves nailing or gluing. Glad for husbands.
Matching bookshelves & coffee table from Target. |
Painting on the wall, and the iron works above the doorway are from Tuesday Morning.
I love the colors in the painting. Circular red mirror is from Pier1.
Joseph & I both are in agreeance that TV's are ugly & should never be seen in a home. So we hide ours away in this armoir we got at RCWiley (on sale, of course!).
Books! We love books. We actually have many, many, more books, but I uncluttered the shelves for showings. Plus, I think less looks cleaner, more appealing.
The little knick-knacks: Top shelf--both from Target. Middle shelf--Pier1. Bottom shelf--that cool candle is from TJ Maxx.
Chair & pillows from Pier1. This was our very most recent purchase. The couches before this were worn, bulky, & very used (bought both of them from a friend for $50, 4 years ago & we covered them with white slipcovers to make them bearable).
As much as I like the white chair, this chair from Pier1 is my favorite of the 3 pieces. |
I love the design on the back. Details, details, details. |
I'm a fan of flowers that don't die nor have to be watered. I bought this at a little boutique store called Melange, located in my hometown in Washington state.
Fresh flowers! Someday, when we're "rich" I'm going to have a fresh boquet of flowers all the time. It makes the room so inviting.
Candle: Kohl's. Vase & flowers: Sam's Club! |
The white urn with the round fake plant, the urn & flowers are all from Tai Pai Trading Co. Back to Home Tour |
