"It is becoming increasingly clear through research on the brain, as well as in other areas of study, that childhood needs play.
Play acts as a forward feed mechanism into courageous, creative, rigorous thinking in adulthood."

{10 reasons why kids need fresh air, here.}
Oi, I wish I could get my kid to go outside more. It's a battle every time! She's such a little homebody, we have to be very persuasive to get her to leave the house. Playing is not a problem as we do it quite a bit inside, but getting fresh air is obviously an issue...
ReplyDeletelove these photos! and I have the opposite problem to the commenter above!
ReplyDeleteI.ikeda: Funny how some kids are like that. When Hyrum was a baby all he wanted to do was be outside. Often, the only thing that would calm him down was taking him outside, even if that meant talking him for a walk at 2 in the morning! There are so many benefits to being outside in nature, besides fresh air...keep encouraging your little one to play outside, sometimes that's all they need.
ReplyDeleteAlysa: Thank you (I'm pretty much obsessed with taking pictures of my kids, especially now that I have a new camera).
Lol, I can relate, my boys, especially when they were smaller ONLY wanted to be outside, even if it was 15 degrees out! Fortunately, we have a big fenced in back yard to facilitate that & a neighborhood with lots of parks we can walk to.
This is soooo true. I teach kids and I see a huge difference in the kids who play ("pretend" indoors, as well as outdoors)and those who revolve their lives around video games and extracurricular activities. Huge difference in intellect, creative thinking, focus, problem-solving, emotional development etc.. Yeah for play!!!! And adorable little kiddos you have.....
